Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students.

Display pictures of various celebrities/political figures who were involved in a scandal. Teacher will ask Ss, how do we call when a popular person commit something wrong or dishonest and the public knows about it? Teacher will elicit the answer "SCANDAL" to the students. List of words will be provided and Ss will choose the answer from the list. Once the Ss figured out the answer, focus on pronunciation and stress of the word. Teacher will then ask CCQs to check if they understood the word: Is it a scandal if someone famous does something bad or dishonest? (Yes) Is it a scandal if the person does something good? (No) Are politicians / celebrities often involved in scandals? (Yes)

Pre-Reading (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Teacher to show Ss the photographs of Woodward and Bernstein. Ss will be given the handout that contains information about the book "All the President's Men" by Woodward and Bernstein. Ss will be instructed that they have five minutes to read it. Ss will be advised to skim the text to get the general idea. ICQs: How long do you have to read? (5 minutes) After reading, Teacher will ask Ss: What is the job of Woodward and Bernstein? The political scandal happened in which country? Who is the President whose Presidency ended? After the questions have been answered, Ss will read an extract about the Watergate Scandal. After reading, check with the students if they understood the words in the box. Teacher will write the vocabulary words on the board (arrest, burglary, Democratic party, editor, headquarters). Tell the students that, in pairs, they will discuss what the vocabulary means based on the story that they read. ICQs: Are you going to discuss with your partner what the vocabulary means? Yes. Monitor. Provide feedback/error correction if necessary.

Asked Ss to read the read again and worked in pairs to answer the True or False question. ICQs: Will you work in pair? Yes. Will you answer the question in true or false? Yes.

Post-Reading (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Freer Practice (3-5 minutes) • Students are given the opportunity to respond to and personalize the text through a written task
