Procedure (33-45 minutes)
1. T- " Today we're going to talk about fashion and appearance. First, let's look at some pictures". (Google slides pg.44 + adjectives in the box.) T- Look at the pictures. 2. T- "In pairs, discuss how the girl's clothes change her appearance in each picture". Use the adjectives in the box (casual,elegant, heavy, mature, natural,pretty, serious, sophisticated, tall,young) T- Show or read the adjectives aloud. Check meaning if necessary ("Do you have to use the adjectives?") - yes 3.ICQs T- "You have 2-3 min to talk. Try to use as many as posible. 4. OCFB "Okay, let's share some ideas. How does her appearance change in each picture? 5. Ss - In picture A, she looks casual and young. - "In picture B, she looks serious and elegant". - "In picture C, she looks natural and elegant". - "In picture D, she looks sophisticated and mature". 6. T- Paraphrases and praises correct use of adjectives: Good! You're using describing words (adjectives) to talk about fashion.
7. T- "Now we're going to listen to a fashion expert talking about these four girls and their style. Don't worry about understanding every word, just try to get the general idea". 8. T-Show the four pictures again to keep context visual. 9. T- Play the recording once. 10.T- "Let's check together. Which girl does the fashion expert like the most, and why? "She likes the girl in picture D because she looks the most sophisticated." 11. Google S with question: 12.T-"Good! Did you hear the word more or the most?
13. T- "Good job! Now we're going to listen to Suzanne again, this time, I want you to listen carefully for details."14. T- "You will answer five questions on Google Forms." 15.T- " Open the Google Form" (T shares the link) 16. T - Play the recording once. Listen and answer the questions individually (5 min) 17. T- "Let's check together: Answer key 1) What is Suzanne talking about? The girls' different looks and styles. 2)What does Suzanne say about the girl in picture A? She looks more natural and younger. 3)What does she say about the girl in picture B? She looks more elegant than the others. 4) Which girl has the most colorful clothes? Answer: They compare things. 25.T- When we say 'longer than', are we comparing two people or more than two? Ss Two T- When we say 'older than', are we comparing two or more? Ss Two T- When we say the 'most colorfu'l, are we comparing one or many? Ss Many T- When we say 'the tallest, are we comparing one or many? Ss many 26. T- Let's see how we make them (Google slides) T- For short adjectives like long or tall, we add -er for comparatives and -est for the superlative.T- For longer adjectives like colorful, we use more or the most. Notice we use 'than' with comparatives (older than) and the before superlatives (the tallest) Now we are going to 27. T- Listen and repeat (Google Slide)
28.T- Now that we know how to form and say these adjectives, let's practice using them in sentences. 29 T- Open the Google Form. Read each sentence and write the correct adjective (longer, older, the most colorful, the tallest) 3 min. 30. T- check your answers with your partner. 31. (OCFB) Now, let's read some answers together. 32. Great job, everyone! You used the adjectives correctly in the sentences.
33. T- Now let's use them to talk about real people and things. We're going to use the same adjectives (longer, older, the most colorful, the tallest) but this time with your own ideas. 34.T- Google Slide, 5 questions. T - For example, My sister's hair is longer than mine. 35.Great work,everyone! You used the adjectives really well to compare people and things. 36. T- So, today we learned how to compare two things using comparatives like LONGER THAN, OLDER THAN, and how to talk about one thing that's number one using superlatives like THE TALLEST, THE MOST COLORFUL. T-You did a great job recognising and using these adjetives correctly!
