Description

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to identify and use vocabulary related to pop culture, understand the concept of Comic Con, read and comprehend a short blog post about a pop culture event, use the present continuous tense to talk about future plans and arrangements, and engage in short conversations about their own plans using the target grammar.

Procedure

PTV (4-6 minutes) • Introduce the new vocab and phrases

1. Actor Meaning: a picture of an actor ( what do we call him ? ) Form: noun CCQs: Does an actor work in movies? 2. Costume Meaning: special clothes people wear for a party or show like Halloween or comic Con day Form: noun CCQs: Do we wear a costume every day? Do we wear a costume for a party? 3. Director Meaning: a person who tells actors what to do in a movie Form: noun CCQs: Does a director tell actors what to do? Does a director act in the movie? 4 Artist Meaning: ( a picture of mona lisa ) who drew that picture? What do we call him ? Form: noun CCQs: Does an artist paint pictures? 5. Celebration Meaning: do we eat cakes, dance,have dun on a birthday ? Form: noun CCQs: Is a celebration a happy or sad event ? Is it an action or an event?

Reading (gist and details) (7-9 minutes) • Developing the students' reading skills

Gist : Now we’re going to read a short online message from a girl. She’s very happy about Comic Con. Please read the message and answer this question: Who is Tommy? Don’t worry about every word just try to understand what Comic Con Day is. Ccqs. Do we need to read every word ? Details: exercise 2b “Alright, let’s read it again carefully. Then, answer the three questions. Check the correct answer. If it’s false, write the correct one. Ccqs . If the answer is false do we leave or write the correct one?

Exposure (3-4 minutes) • Expose the students the target language

look again. Find 4 sentences talking about future، maybe her plans, other people’s plans, or events like Comic Con، and if there's any question about the future ... Comic Con is coming this weekend. I’m bringing my camera. Tommy is showing his pictures this year. He isn’t selling anything. Are you going to Comic Con?

Clarification (5-7 minutes) • To clarify the meaning

Freer practice (5-7 minutes) • Freely use the present continuous for future plans

Plan Your Own Event Students imagine they are organizing a small event (a party, trip, or festival). Together, they decide who is doing what. Example prompts: • Who’s bringing the food? • Who’s preparing the music? • Who’s decorating the place? • Who’s inviting the guests? • What time are you starting the party? After planning, students present their plan to the class using present continuous.

Lead in (3-5 minutes) • Generate interest

Procedure 1 A video display about comic Con 2 Ask students do you know why people wear like that ? Answer the question it's comic con day where people wear superheroes clothes and have fun on that day 3 students centered questions about comic Con. Do you think comic Con should be just for children or adults too? Why or why not? Do you agree with wearing a superhero clothes on comic Con day? Why or why not?
