Description

In this lesson, students are going to develop their fluency by expressing their opinions of some people's dilemmas. Students are going practice listening by listening to a conversation between two people.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1- T projects pictures of people who are facing problems. 2- T instructs students to work in groups and discuss what they can find out by looking at these pictures.

Preparing to speak (3-5 minutes) • To provide ideas to speak about dilemmas and pre-teach vocabulary

-T projects power point presentation slide that has pictures and words and instructs SS to match them. -SS match the words with the pictures and compare their answers and the T provides feedback and drills the words.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

--T projects a picture of a man who doesn't seem happy. - SS works in groups to predict his problem. - SS give a suitable advice based on each dilemma they have predicted. - T instructs SS to change groups and discuss their ideas with other groups and then SS give WCF

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

-T divides SS into groups, hands HO1, asks students to read the text and find out the problem in the text. - SS work in groups to discuss the problems and give a suitable advice. - SS change groups and discuss the problem and give a suitable advice. - SS get back to their places and T asks (2-4) SS about what other SS have found out. - SS work in groups to talk about personal experiences and group members give an advice for each member's problem. -

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

-T projects a picture of Derek and Dave. and asks SS to predict what is Derek's dilemma. - SS work in pairs first to predict, then they work in groups to discuss Derek's Dilemma, give suitable advice for each dilemma they predict. - T hands SS HO and instruct students to skim it. -T plays the recording 1.57, asks students to circle the right answer. - SS work in pairs to check their answers. - T projects the answers on board. - T and SS provide feedback of the context.
