Description

In this lesson, Ss will recall their knowledge about subject and object pronouns. Ss will use this knowledge for expressing love, like and hate for personal preferences. Ss will have activities to internalize the target language.

Main Aims

  • By the end of this lesson, Ss will be able to express their hate and love (by using subject and object pronouns) in the context of personal preferences

Subsidiary Aims

  • By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to talk about likes and dislikes accurately in the context of personal preferences.

Procedure

Lead in (5-7 minutes) • To introduce the contexts to Ss and arouse interest.

-T says "These pictures are about me" Points to the tea picture. Uses hands for a heart shape. Goes on -When ss says " you like tea." T writes it on the WB. -T underlines tea and crosses it out. "what is a different way to say this?" -Ss say "it" -T does the same thing with all pictures.

Elicit the target language (5-7 minutes) • To let the Ss recall their knowledge about subject and object pronouns

-HO of the related slide. -T says "take notes" and gestures it. - PPP is on. -T points to the first box on slide. Elicits "I" -T points to the second box and elicits "love, like and hate" -T points to the third box and one by one, elicits object pronouns. -Writes them on WB while eliciting.

Controlled Practice (10-10 minutes) • To give a chance to Ss to practice what they have learned.

- Ss pair up. - T divides the board into columns to keep the score. - one member gets the blue cards with questions on them - the other member gets the pink cards with answers on them. - Ss shuffle the cards. T gestures "shuffle" - each pair puts cards face down on their table. (blues and pinks separate) - one s picks pink, the other blue. - Ss see if the answers and questions match -If matches ss shout "bingooo" -t goes and checks it. If it is okay, the pair gets a point. -t monitors and uses immediate feedback.

Semi controlled talking practice (10-10 minutes) • To let the Ss have a chance to practice the target language

-T says 'Who is pink?' and gestures putting the pink cards faced down -T says "blues pick a card and ask it to pinks" ICQ: Are blues asking? yes Are pinks just listening? no They are answering - If time..... -change pairs and repeat

Free(r) Practice (15-15 minutes) • To have the Ss work on the TL with less help

- T gives HO. - S work alone and fill up the first column. -ICQ; Alone or in pairs? First column or the second? - t asks a talkative s to come the WB. - T and the s fill up the first three rows in the first column. - T asks questions similar to the model on the PPP - S answers. - If they have same answers, they write each other's name under the "names" section. - t asks the ss to stand up. (gestures) - T says" go around the room and asks your friends questions." -"when I stop the music, change partners." -t opens up some music ICQ: Are you asking questions similar to these ones? (PPP) yes - t monitors and does delayed fb on WB -Everyone is happy.
