Description

This integrated lesson combines listening and vocabulary practice. Students will listen to short conversations about Black Friday and learn useful money-related vocabulary (borrow, lend, spend, save, waste, return, cost, pay back, sell, shop online). The lesson develops listening for gist and detail skills and gives students the chance to use the new vocabulary in controlled and freer speaking practice.

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • Generate interest

1 a video display 2 teacher centered question (in Egypt, we have black Friday too. what do you think is the difference between black Friday in USA and Egypt?) 3 students pair work ( If you had 1000 EGP to spend on black Friday, what would you buy? Why? What's the best to buy on Black Friday)

Ptv (2-3 minutes) • Teaching the new words

Listening (gist and details) (5-7 minutes) • Developing the students' listening skills

Gist : instructions ( Now we’re going to listen to an audio about four people. I want you to tell me which speaker likes Black Friday. speaker number one, two, three, or four.. don't worry about every word. Just listen to the main idea ICQs : so, what do we need to find? Do we need to listen for every word? Details : now listen carefully and answer these questions ho1 ICQs do we listen carefully to get answer ?

Follow up activity (3-4 minutes) • To reflect

Transitioning: Ok guys so now that we have heard some opinions about black Friday now it's your time to give your opinion I want you together to discuss this question Do you think Black Friday is a good idea? Why or why not?

Highlighting (3-4 minutes) • Introduce the new vocab and phrases
