Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-T asks SS how did you meet your husbands/wives? was it in unusual circumstances? -T tells SS to work in pairs and tell their own stories how they met their husbands/wives if they are married . if not, they tell a story of some people they know. -T takes FB from SS, If there is an unusual story ,T asks them to tell the class.

Gist listening. four speakers will speak about where they met their partners (4-6 minutes) • SS will get some information about names of places.

-T tells SS they are going to listen to four speakers . They must know where each speaker met their partners . they can choose from this list (A-at work B-at school or university C-on the internet D-in a bar or club E-through friends). T plays the audio once , pausing after each speaker for SS to write the correct answer. -T puts SS into new pairs and asks them to compare. -check answers with the whole class on WB

Listening for details (4-6 minutes) • To listen again and write more details about the speakers

-T tells SS to listen again and write more details about how the people met. -T plays the audio and pauses after each speaker. SS compare with partners for 30 seconds.T chooses a pair of SS to share their notes with the whole class

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To expose SS to the TL used to/usually

-Model sentence: T shows on WB a model sentence from the listening.We used to go to clubs together on Saturday night. -T explains TL as it is clarified in the LA

Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To check if the SS understand the TL

-T shows exercise b page 141 from English File student's book. Tells SS how to do the exercise. They decide if the highlighted verb forms right or wrong. If they are wrong,they should correct them. -T puts SS into new pairs and gives them 3 minutes to do it.T monitors. After SS have finished T shows the answers on WB

pronunciation practice (3-5 minutes) • To teach students how to pronounce USED TO in sentences

-T shows exercise 3a on page 49. -T reads the sentences and stresses the bold words in the sentences. -T gives SS two minutes to practice in pairs ,monitors and gives help if needed.

speaking practice (4-6 minutes) • To allow students speak about their habits in the past using used to.

-T shows some sentences on the board and tells SS to work in groups. They will choose two sentences and tell their partners about them. -later T chooses individual SS to tell the whole class about their sentences.
