Procedure (45-59 minutes)
1. Settle in and welcome students to class 2. Check attendance 3. Write the date on the board 4. Quick Review
1. Show students the picture of River 2. Ask them: what is he holding in his hands? 3. Let them guess what the topic of today's lesson is 4. Students watch the video only without sound 5. Elicit as many words students know in a spidergram on the board 6. Encourage students to use there is and there are (structure learnt in the previous lesson)
1. Students listen and watch the video again 2. This time we will add more words to the spidergram 3. Students will listen again if needed
1. Focus on the use of articles 2. Use coloured markers to explain the difference between the use of a, an, and the zero article 3. Students copy the vocabulary on their notebooks 4. Distribute a grammar rule handout to glue on their notebooks
Workbook page 18 -- simple vocabulary and grammar practice (fast finishers can start doing this while others still copy the lesson on their notebooks) Workbook Page 20 ex 1-- cross the odd one out / preparation for final stage
Workbook P 21 Students need to write what they have in their pencil case and include an odd item that is not supposed to be in the pencil case --- This is a preparation for the final stage where students will interact together
Students present what they have in their pencil case and the rest of the class need to guess what is the odd item in the pencil case.
