To provide detailed listening practice using a text about Austronaut's life in the context of Space

To provide review of space lexis in the context of listening about an astronaut´s life
Procedure (52-56 minutes)
Introduce the students to the class objective. Have them check slide 2, and elicit a question to be answered in front of class. Have them answer in pairs.
Show students a photo of the International Space Station, if possible. Ask them if they have ever heard of it. Where is it and what is it for? Have students tell a partner whether they would like to visit the International Space Station
Play the first minute of the text. Have students share their ideas via Chat on what the text is about (reward the first 3 with a signature)
Tell students to go to page 137 and that we will do as a class exercise b and c. Have students read the instructions. As well Have students read through the sentences and check their understanding. Highlight the information about NASA and SpaceX in the Information box. Play the audio track and have students select the correct answers. Have them compare answers with a partner. Then play the audio track again, if necessary. Check answers with the class Have students read through the questions. Clarify sickness and muscle, if necessary. Play the audio track and have students choose the body parts mentioned. Play the audio track once more, if necessary, then have students check answers with a partner. Conduct feedback with the class.
Assign students to small groups. Assign each group a question about astronauts to research and have them research their question on the internet. Have them use this information to make a short presentation and then have groups present their information to the class. Possible questions to research: How do astronauts eat in space? How do astronauts sleep in space? How do astronauts take a shower in space? How do astronauts exercise? How do astronauts train to go to space? How do astronauts keep in touch with family?
