Procedure (37-49 minutes)
I will tell my students what I have in my bag. For example, 3 pens and 2 books, and wallet, and four keys.
I will ask the students to take a look around them and name the things they see, for example pen, and book, and window, and a desk.
I will write the things that they see on the board in two columns. The first column is the singular form, the other is the number and noun without s.
First, for a and an I will write two columns, then in the first column I will write some words using a and in the other column with an. Then I will ask the students why I used a for the first column and an for the other one? Then I will specify that the first letters of the nouns in the second column are vowels, so we use an when we want to say there is only one of it. Then I will tell them when we have a (eu) sound, we use a instead of an. Then I will refer to the first column and ask why there is an s at the end of each noun? Plural. We use (s - ies - es) to make nouns plural. Then I will write a two-sound noun on the board on with s added to both nouns, one added to the second one, and ask which one is correct? The second one. Look at the board and answer the questions. Why is the? Do we know which board and which questions? Yes, so when we know the things that we are talking about, we use the.
I will ask them to do the exercises in the book.
Tell me what you see when you are walking down the street.
