To provide review of adjectives pertaining to wonderful, extraordinary, above average abilities in the context of students will practice using the adjectives speaking to each other, then speaking to the class
Procedure (33-40 minutes)
The teacher will show the photos describing the notions from the text and will ask the students if they could guess what they are. The teacher will practice pronunciation and meaning of the words "autism" and "autistic" and show pictures of three American movies featuring characters with autism and special abilities.
Share the copy of the text with the Students and ask them to read for gist.
The Teacher will provide pictures of the words to be matched with the words to ensure the students understand the meaning of the words. This is a simple and fun whole class exercise.
The Teacher will go over several questions first. The answers are to be found in the text during the second reading. The Teacher will share the google form with the text and the questions.
Ask the students to check each others' answers
Divide the students into pairs. Ask them to tell each other about their own special or unusual abilities. Then ask two or three students to tell the class about the partner's special abilities.
To praise the students for using the new words and participation as positive reinforcement works for most people. To correct the mistakes the Teacher has noticed without mentioning the students' names. To ask if the students have any questions, suggestions, concerns.
