Main Aims

  • By the end of the 45-minute Lesson, the students will be able to describe a place to eat at by writing a discription about a resturant they know including the name of the resturant, location, food, opening hours, and atmosphere .

Subsidiary Aims

  • By the end of the 45-minute lesson, the students will be able to show understanding to a reading text related to describing a resturant through answering the questions that is related to the text.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will divide the lead-in into 2 parts. -The first part will be teacher-led, T will show a picture of an italian resturant on the screen and will ask the students some questions about it: 1-What kind of resturants do you think this is? 2-Are there any similar restaurants near to you? Do you usually eat there? ​ -After this, the 2nd part will be student-led, T will hand the students the HO and will ask answer question 1B (p.58). Insturctions: 1-Read the resturant card, menu, and the review. 2-Complete the information in the table. 3-alone in 2 minutes. -Feedback: T asks the SS for their answers and check if they all agree that these are the answers, then will show the answer key on the screen.

Reading (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

T will smoothly jump to the reading part by saying that "since we knew a lot of information about this resturant, let's see what Marco said about it to his friend Danny. but before we do this, let's know some new vocabulary words." after teaching the words, T will guide the students to the reading text and ask then to answer exersice 2(p.58). "Marco sent an email to Danny but it shows here that there are some gaps that you guys need to complete." Instructions: 1-read the text. (2 mins) 2-use the table that is in exersice 1b to complete the text. 3-alone in 2 mins. 4-after answering the question, students will check their answers together. -Feedback: T asks the SS for their answers and check if they all agree that these are the answers, then will show the answer key on the screen.

Genre analysis (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language and ideas for coming productive tasks

-T will start analyzing the reading text for the students by telling them "So, since you read the text, let's know how to write a text similar to it." -T will start with the content analysis by eliciting some ideas from the students. then teacher will tell them that all the ideas that is needed is the exersice that they answered. -T wil jump to the next part which is analyzing the language. "so guys, it shows on the screen that he was describing the resturant to his friend. let's see some phrases that we can use to describe any resturant to our friends." -T will elicit and clarify the language that can be used with these things: 1-How to start your letter/email (Greeting) such as "hello, Hi, etc." 2-the reason for the letter/email such as "I am writing this letter/email for you becuase you..." 3-describing the place, such as "this is my favorite resturant, the food is delicious, it's not expensive, the atmosphere is lively, etc." 4- The recommendation and the wishes, such as" try it! i hope you like it! , i recommend it to you! you will love it! , etc."

Productive Task(s) (13-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

-T will smoothly jump to the writing task after the analization."So, since we knew How to descirbe our resturants and the food. let's practice what we learnt." -T will tell the students the instructions to the students: 1- Think about a place to eat that you know, make notes using the ideas in exersice 1b.(5 mins) 2-write 80-100 words describing this resturant to one of your friends. (8 mins)

Feedback and Error Correction (5-7 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

-After the writing task, T will create a gallery walk so that the students read their friend's paragraph. Then, T will ask the students some questions about the resturant of their friend. 1-what was the name of the resturant? 2-what did he say about it? 3-after what he said about this place, do you want to go there? Language feeback: in this part, T will take the papers to check them and give every student a feedback for his task. But, if there is no time. T will write on the board the common mistakes that he got based on his monitoring. then will take the papers to check them later.
