Materials
Main Aims
-
To provide clarification of simple present (-) in the context of countries
Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide practice of simple present (-) in the context of contries
Procedure (37-49 minutes)
I will start the lesson by introducing the context of the country. I will tell them that Iran is my country, but I have a cousin who is from Germany. So she is not Iranian.
I will ask them if they know anyone who is from another country.
I will write some of their sentences on the board.
I will write (I am Iranian.) on the board and ask What is the role of the first word?-subject. Then what comes after the subject? Verb, do you know how to make this sentence negative? We use (not), which makes a sentence negative. Then I will ask (do you know the question form?) Is she Iranian? We follow the same steps for (you, we, they, and he/she/it). I will write the elicited version of simple past, question form, and negative form on the board. And then I will ask Are you American? No, I am not. Then follow the same stages for other subject pronouns. Then I'll say if we want to ask someone about their country, we ask them where they're from. I am from Iran.
I will ask them to do the excersises from page 126 from the book they will have five minutes to do them in groups then we will check with the whole class.
I will ask them to tell me about their favorite athlete or actor or anyone famous and what country they are from.
