To provide practice of pronunciation of new vocabulary in the context of pronunciation
Procedure (21-34 minutes)
teacher asks ;what do you usually do on new years eve? students share briefly in open class. teacher writes some key words (party, fire works, dinner)on the boards to activate students
teacher shows work sheet with missing words. asks students to guess the missing words in pairs. plays audio(track 7.18) once for students to listen and check.
in small groups, students complete the question on the hand out. teacher monitors and provides support as needed
teacher elicit answer from groups, write correct questions on the boards. highlights stressed words(wh- words, contents words).
teacher pronunciation, exaggeration stress. plays audio again, asking students to mark stress on their hands out. then choral drilling(whole class, then smaller groups, then individuals
students work in pairs. one student asks the questions, the other answers. then swap roles.
teacher asks a few pairs to perform their Q&A for the class. gives feedback on pronunciation and rhythm.
