in this lesson students are going to learn the be going to grammar in the context of planning for a party. after this lesson students might be better able to use be going to grammar to talk about their future plans or intentions. the lesson will be finished with a discussion task about their plans for a party that they are invited to.

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a Conversation in the context of their plans for the party they are invited to

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In this stage i will tell the students that im going to have a party next week and i will tell them the things that im going to do in my party by making sentences with be going to grammar in order to familiarize students with this grammar.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

In this stage i will show some pictures of my self doing the things that i talked about. i will make the first sentence and i want students to make other sentences about the pictures and i will write the sentences on the board to draw their attention toTL.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

In this stage i will clarify the meaning by drawing a timeline on the board and asking some CCQs like: Are these sentences about the past, present or future? future Is it planned for the future? yes Can i use exact time in this grammar? yes which form of the verb can be used in this grammar? The base form after that i will elicit the structure to clarify how to form the sentences: Subj+ (to be verb)+ be going to+ verb( base form). i will elicit the negative and question form structure too. pronunciation will be drilled in the class by repeating the sentences with students.

Controlled Practice (2-4 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The students are going to do the first five exercises of 3A on page 131 in the grammar bank. i will give them 2 minutes then we will check the answers together.

Free Practice (5-8 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

In this stage i will tell the students that im going to invite them to my party so i will ask them what are they going to do in that party and we will talk about their plans for the party. First they have to talk about it in groups of 4 then they will tell their plans to whole class.
