Main Aims

  • To provide practice of the present simple tense in the context of describing places.
  • To provide detailed reading practice using a text about the beauty of Ras Mohamed.
  • To provide practice of vocabulary about Ras Mohamed National Park.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide students with the opportunity to practice speaking for fluency.

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students.

Who can swim? Do you keep the beach clean? What kind of creatures can we see under the water?

Pre-Reading (5-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible.

While-Reading1 (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist reading tasks.

I will let the students read in order to get the main idea of the text. I will ask them ccqs to make sure that they understand the aim of the task: - Are you going to read quickly? -Are you going to read every single word? -How much time do we have? -Are you going to read alone?

While-Reading2 (7-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading tasks.

- I will let them read the questions of task number 3 before they read to help them finding specific information.

While-Reading3 (5-7 minutes) • Reading in detail

- I will ask my students to read for the last time precisely. - I will ask them to do task number 4.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned.

- I will give them the chance to respond to the text productively by asking them to do task number 5.
