Procedure (8-50 minutes)
teacher greets students and asks ;what did you do last weekend? elicit answer and highlight natural phrases with went, had got write example on the board; i went to park/ i had pizza/ i got taxi
show students the phrases from the book(exercise a ) teacher explains the use of went, had, got in common collocation give some examples go to a hotel/go to a restaurant/ have dinner/have party/get home drill pronunciation chorally and individually
students complete exercise a ( fill in the blanks with went, had, got ) check answer together students repeat sentences chorally for fluency
pair work; students make 3 sentences about last weekend using ,went, had, got. examples; i went to my friends house. i had dinner with my family. i got home late. share with classes
role play in pairs students A; ask about students Bs last holiday student B; answer using went went/had/ got encourage natural conversations.
