Students will be asked to read the article about advantages and disadvantages of wikipedia. They are asked to answer the following questions: 1.what are the three advantages of wikipedia? 2.what are the two disadvantages? in general, is the writer for or against wikipedia?
The students will be asked to correct the mistakes in the article to get more familiar with the text and comprehend it more. The layout of the advantage/disadvantage will be drawn on the board asking engaging students what are each paragraph and how should we write it. The students will be informed about the language used in the advantage/disadvantage article. 1. We start our article with introduction which gives an overview about what we are going to talk about 2. We need two bodies: advantage and disadvantage. If we believe it is beneficial we have to mention more advantages and vise versa. 3.Finally we have to wrap it up with conclusion. we need some linking words to write a practical advantage/disadvantage article such as: advantage: first/firstly... second,.... third disadvantages: on the other hand, there are also some disadvantages conclusion: in conclusion, to sum up I think
Students will be asked to write the similar article about this topic: "smartphone essential for modern life?" they are going to follow this introduction: 'most people today have a smartphone, are they really essential for modern for modern life? I think there are both advantages and disadvantages" then write paragraph 1 with two or three advantages, write paragraph 2 two or three disadvantages, write conclusion in paragraph 4.
Students are asked to exchange their articles with a partner and tell each other what they think about their partner's article. The article will be collected in at the end and students will receive some feedback from the teacher. They will be asked to write the second draft at home according to the feedback that they have been given.
