Description
Materials
Main Aims
-
Students will be able to talk about their shopping habits and preferences, using target vocabulary.
Subsidiary Aims
-
revise and consolidate vocabulary related to shopping (save up, pay in cash, look for bargains, keep the receipt); practice expressing opinions and justifying choices; develop fluency through discussion tasks.
Procedure (56-61 minutes)
Teacher shows photo of crowded shopping street. Ask: Do you like shopping? Why/why not? Pair discussion.
Quick vocabulary review: students match words with definitions (receipt, refund, bargain, sales). Short quiz format.
Flashcards with statements (e.g. I usually wait for sales before I buy anything). Students stand by “agree/disagree” corners and explain their choice.
Introduce 4–5 key expressions (look for bargains, keep the receipt, pay in cash, heavy goods online). Clarify with CCQs: If I get money back, is it a refund?
Gap-fill sentences and short pair interviews (Do you usually pay by cash or card? Why?).
Group task: The Future of Shopping. Discuss questions: Will shops disappear? Will online shopping replace everything? Groups present predictions.
Reflection: What new phrases will you actually use in real life?
Write 6–8 sentences about your shopping habits (use at least 3 new expressions).
