Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

i will ask them about what we should do and what we shouldnt do in our first day at work to make our boss satisfy?

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

i will speak about a story in the context of my first day in a new office and cover the meaning of new vocabularies. the students should guess the meaning and give me examples with new vocabularies. key vocabularies: survive (verb), enthusiastic (adj), admit (verb), impress (verb)

While-Reading/Listening #1 (5-8 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

i want them to listen to simon and claire audio and answer these following questions: what problems did they have? what advice from the article in 1 would you give them? the answers will be checked with whole class and students should support their ideas if they have different answers and they should speak about their reasons if they have wrong answers.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

i will ask them to have a quick look on part B and read the sentences number 1-6 after that i will play the audio and they should listen again and they will write who each sentence is about? s (simon), c (claire), or b (both of them) ? they will have 2 minutes to check their answers in pair then we will check all the answers with whole class. students should say why they wrote that name for that sentence and they should support their ideas if they made mistakes or they wrote different name.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

i want them to speak with each other in groups of 3 or 4 about have they ever had a problem on their first day in a new job or in a new class or school? what was it?.
