TP 2 DAILY LIFE
Elementary, Level A1 level

Description

In this lesson, Ss review prepositions of place and do one or two examples. Some verbs and phrases of daily routines will be introduced to the Ss through the context of reading about the famous person. The Ss will be provided with exercises and role-play activities in which they can talk and write about their daily life.

Main Aims

  • To revise some prepositions and present/practice the verbs used related to daily routine.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide scan reading practice using a text about "A Glamorous Life?" in the context of daily routine

Procedure

Lead-in (5 minutes) • To review and practice some prepositions.

T will elicit the prepositions (in/on/at) by matching the time and prepositions practice on WB. They will talk to their partner and match them. at (5 pm / the weekend / 12 o'clock / night ) on (Sunday / May 7th,1960 / Wednesdays / Saturday evenings ) in ( May / 2016 / the morning / the afternoon / the evening ) T will give HO and then the answer key

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a game.

T set the scene - stick the pictures and phrases on the wall around the class and ask them to match the photos with the phrases as a group. Firstly,T will give instruction and model it then the game will start. T will stick all the pictures on the WB and elicit and drill the phrases. T practises the -s -es ies for present simple revision by changing the subjects.

Highlighting and Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T will show a photo of Cem Yılmaz and ask "Who is he?"/ "What is his job?" "Does Cem Yılmaz .....?" by showing some photos of the daily routine used in the game. Ss will complete the question. T will give HOs and let them read and answer the questions. Ss will check the answers with another person by changing the seat. T will give the answer key.

Semi-Controlled Practice (10-15 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

T will give role cards to Ss. They will ask each other some questions written on their role cards. They will be given some parts of the question and phrases to create their own. T will demonstrate with one student at the front. ICQs: In pairs or group work? After the activity', T will ask some questions; "Who doesn't have breakfast/lunch/dinner?" "Who gets up after 10 am?" etc. T will give another role play cards HOs. Ss will talk to each other again but not themselves, they will be one of the characters written on the cards.

Bonus Task (4-6 minutes) • To make the Ss familiar with more practise.

If the Ss get confused about the phrases and writing them, T will give them another HOs. They will watch a video on youtube and tick the phrases used. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azEc1y4sHV4 (02:06 mins) WC will watch the first sentence and T will stop it to check their understanding then continue. T will ask them to check the answers with their partner. This stage may be before Controlled Practice Stage.
