To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of everyday activities and interrupted actions.
Procedure (33-44 minutes)
the lesson will start with a small talk about daily life activities and work life.
then the students will be asked to talk about "what they were doing before the class started ". then i will write their answers in order to reform and introduce them to the TL.
in this stage i will write past simple sentences with their given answers and formulate them in the past continuous form on the board to draw their attention to the Target language.
i will be clarifying the meaning of past continuous tense by drawing a timeline on the board and ask them in which point of the timeline do they think this tense stands for. the CCQs will be " are these actions happening in past, present or future? is the actions finished or in progress? can we use past continues for short completed actions?" after that i will draw out the form asking the students what is each ones placement. "which one is the subject?" then i will be writig the form on board and then i will explain each positive negatie and question form with a following example on the board. then i will be talking about interrupted actions in using of the past continuous grammer with a few examples.
the students are going to do the exercise on page 129, 2B part a they are expected to fill the blank with the right form of past continuous. and part b they are expected to distinguish simple past and past continuous and choose the right form for each blank. next the answers will be checked with the class.
i will want the students to talk about something that they were doing in their life when something unexpected happend in between that led to changing of the plans.
