Description

In this lesson, Ss learn to ask and answer questions about personal information through a text-based presentation in a listening exercise about an interview. The lesson starts with eliciting information about the boy band. This is followed by a vocabulary pre-teach. After that, there is the listening for gist and then details. Finally, there is a free practice through a role-play speaking activity.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

. greeting everyone . elicit and review the previous lesson 'what's your name? where are you from?' possibly with new Ss or just the constantaly attending Ss . show a picture of the boy band from a previous lesson and elicit the band's name

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

. review vocab 'good, great, fantastic' on the board, on an arrow on the WB . after listening for gist, give a handout to choose what they listened to, peer check . WCFB

Highlighting (8-10 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

. Ss read the questions before listening . listen once . if they find difficulty answering, listen to the first half and the 2nd half separately . Ss answer the questions . peer check . WCFB

Clarification (3-5 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

. concept check the meaning 'who: 3 Ss stand in front of the class, 1 S turns his/her back and get tapped on the shoulder and is asked who did it?' 'where: 3 cups, 1 hides a cap, where is it? 'how old: guess how old am I and the other tutors' . elicit form by writing the answers on the board and having them make the questions . drill the pronunciation by having them repeat after me

controlled Practice (2-4 minutes) • To concept check and prepare them for a more meaningful practice

. Ss fill in the blanks in the handouts . peer correction .give answer key for feedback

Freer Practice (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

. Ss answer the questions in the handouts to workout details for their band . practice asking and answering . T offers error correction if needed . present to class
