Session 1
A1~A2 level
Description
Materials
Main Aims
-
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to use the Present Simple to talk about their learning habits and give a short (1–2 min) mini-presentation about how they learn best.
Subsidiary Aims
-
Students will practice basic presentation skills (clear structure, voice, eye contact). Materials: Board, markers, Present Simple handout (gap-fill, sentence starters), peer-feedback checklist, timer.
Procedure (102-130 minutes)
Teacher asks: “What is the most useful thing you learned this year?” Students answer in 1 short sentence. Teacher elicits and writes 6 useful learning-related words on the board.
Present form on board: affirmative, negative, questions. Give 6 examples using “learning” vocab. Drill pronunciation and highlight -s/-es. Controlled gap-fill (4 sentences).
Activity A: Match pictures to sentences (e.g., “She reads every day”). Activity B: Pair survey (Do you study every day? What time do you study? How do you learn best?). Teacher monitors, checks questions/answers.
Teacher models a short presentation (30–40 sec). Board structure: intro → 2 points → conclusion. Highlight 3 tips (short sentences, transitions, clear voice). Students underline Present Simple verbs in model.
Students plan 1–2 min presentations on “How I learn best” or “My learning routine.” Handout with sentence starters + planner (intro, 2 points, conclusion). Teacher supports with accuracy checks.
Students deliver presentations (1–2 min each). Peer-feedback checklist: “Used Present Simple / Structure clear / Voice loud enough.” Teacher gives supportive delayed feedback.
Teacher writes 3 common errors from presentations on the board. Students correct together.
Class reflection: “What helped you in your presentation?” “What will you improve next time?” Homework: Prepare a short presentation “How I learn best” using Present Simple.
