Description

in this grammar focused-lesson, students will be introduced to the first conditional in the context of Murphy's law as a humorous theme to raise interest and support understanding the grammar structure. students then will be asked to create their own version of Murphy's law examples to increase student speaking time (STT).

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In this stage the teacher will give a brief introduction about Murphy's law as a humorous theme to raise student's interest followed by writing two or three illustrative example on the board.

Exposure (2-3 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

in this stage the teacher elicits personal examples from students by asking whether they have similar experiences to Murphy's law and then to give personal examples to increase (SST).

Highlighting (2-3 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

In this stage i will choose two or three examples mentioned by the students that are formed correctly and then write them on the board to draw their attention to the Target Language(TL).

Clarification (6-7 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

teacher will draw students' attention to the structure of the sentences and then will write the formula of first conditional using students' help by asking CCQs such as " is the verb after if present or base form?, what is the form of the verb after will? why?" the formula is completed " if + present simple, will + base form" teacher then will clarify the meaning of the grammar by explaining "we use if + present to talk about a possible situation and will/won't + base form to talk about the result we usually put a comma before will/won't + base form".

Controlled Practice (7-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

students will be asked to do exercise 8B,b(1-5) page 141 in 4 minutes then will have 2 minutes to check in pairs and then will check answers with WC.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

students will be asked to gather in groups of 3 and each student talks about funny and unlucky situations they have experienced in real life . students have 10 minutes for this group activity .then they will share their experiences with the class and the funniest story will be chosen by the students.
