In this lesson ss will first learn about how to express what they have in common and related to this they will listen a conversation about two people what they have in common. Later at the end ss will discover what they have in common wit their partners.

  • To provide specific information and detailed listening that includes similarities and differences in the context of "have in common"

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency of using "me too, neither do I, both... and , neither,,,, nor" in the context of have in common


Lead in (3-5 minutes) • to introduce the context of the lesson in an interesting way to ss

-have a conversation ; "Uhh ım so tired. I watched a very nice romantic film last night. What kind of films do you like? s- Horror/comedic/action... t- Ohh yea Me too I love...../ right So do I. How about the movies you don't like? s-Horror/comedic/action... t- Yea me neither/ uhu Neither do I How about the sports you can do? s- Swimming/ playing tennis... T- Yea me too / Really So can I maybe we can play one day.

Our similarities and diffrences (5-9 minutes) • to elicit how to express their similarities and diffrences

- t writes the sentences they have used on the WB (So, I, Me too in green, Neither, I, me neither in red and circle the do and can with blue. "I like watching romantic films, so do I I can play ..... Me too. I cant play any instrument, Neither can I I don't like horror films, me neither. - Elicit the idea of TL "are all the sentences positive or negative? " "Which phrase means same?" "Which phrase means different?" "Are the all in the same tenses?" - HO would be given (choose the best response to complete the exchanges) -With a partner they FB the answers.

Listening for gist (5-7 minutes) • to get ss engaged with the listening they listen a dialog

- t shows the picture on the projector and ask; "All right every look at the picture please. What do you see on the picture? s- A woman Linda/ a man Clive t- Okey What do you think they are talking about? s- maybe.... T- all right now lets listen to their conversation and find out what they are talking about. T- but before we start (t demonstrates the SQUASH) s- tennis t- like a tennis well done but not.You play this inside not out. Squ... if they cant T say it says it.and shows the picture on the projector. -Drill the new vocab. t gives the instruction of the HO1 ( they listen to the dialog and find two not mentioned topics) -ss go over the answer as GW

What are the similarities and differences (7-12 minutes) • to listening for specific information

- ss L the dialog and to the and to the HO2 for the Ex1 and Ex2 (PW)

Discuss with a partner (10-12 minutes) • to get ss talk about their similarities and diffrences

-t gives the HO3 and puts ss in pairs. (in each pair one student will have green card and the others will have orange) They will ask questions to each other and answer - Once who has the orange card will change the place when t claps her hands. - Then ss change their colored cards with their partners and ask the question -When the t claps her hands once who has the orange card change their place again -t asks which two partner has the most in common
