Description

In this lesson students are going to read a text about an ant and a grasshopper. They will learn new vocabulary, answer comprehension questions, and discuss the importance of preparing for the future.

Materials

Abc Paper slips for activities

Main Aims

  • To develop students’ reading comprehension skills through the story “The Ant and the Grasshopper” and to encourage discussion about preparing for the future.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To practise new vocabulary from the story

Procedure

Warmer / Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage studente

Show pictures, ask questions

Pre-Reading (5-7 minutes) • To prepare students for reading and teach key vocabulary

The words ant, grasshopper, corn and violin will be pre-taught

While-Reading/listening#1 (7-10 minutes) • To provide studeres with lees challenging gist and specific information Why was Bruno get sad? reading/listening tak

Students will read the text and answer questions about the ant and the grasshopper.

While-Reading/Listening#2 (7-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed. deduction and interance reading/listening tasks

While reading for the second time, students should focus to answer some detail questions.

Post-Reading/Listening (5-7 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Students will discuss their favorite character or write a short summary
