Description

In this lesson students are going to learn target language ( yes/no) questions through a guided discovery. Students are also going to learn some places's names. Students are going to develop more listening skills.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Introduce my myself very briefly. Show a picture of Diego and Grace SB page 21, PPT 1st slide without showing the whole picture and ask students where they are. Show the whole picture PPT 2nd slide, and have students guess where they are. Elicit the answers PPT 3&4th slides Show slides that lead to the target language PPT 5&6th slides

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

pg. 21, ex 2. Have students read the information on the chart; listen and fill in. Have students listen to track 3.8 the first part only( about Diego). Get students to complete\ compare their answers. Play track 3.8 again and pause after the first conversation; get students to complete information about Diego. Continue the to second conversation; get students to complete information about Grace. Get students compare their answers. Play the conversation from the beginning pause after the first conversation and get students to complete\ check their answers. Check Answers with students.

Listening for detail (8-10 minutes) • to clarify the usage of the target language

Demonstrate the activity by asking a confident student the first question. Students can work in closed pairs to ask and answer the rest of the questions. Monitor and check. If students have problems with intonation or with short answers, drill the questions and answers across the class and get students to repeat. handout answers, so students check their work.

Productive Task(s) (6-8 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Divide students into two groups. Handout SS find someone who handouts Get students to ask students from the other group if they are the person they are looking for. Repeat the activity but change roles this time.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Project question words on board Get students to guess their use. Focus Students attention on the example in exercise 5 page 21. Tell students that they can use words that are projected on board. Get students to work in pairs. check answers in whole class.
