Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and review of family members in the context of family tree.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide detailed reading and writing practice using a text about Meet the Robinsons in the context of family members

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To elicit the topic and engage students

Hangman game will be played by two groups. T will use these words to clarify the topic.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through HO

T will ask Ss questions; Do you remember other names of family members? Do you have any pet? Is it a family member? T will give the instructions and Ss will work in GW and do the HO. T will give the answer key.

Highlighting (5-8 minutes) • To provide a family tree photo to emphasize the target vocabulary.

T will show an imaginary family tree of herself through OHP and elicit the target vocabulary. T will drill the words and write them on the board.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T will give one set of picture cards and relationship cards and family tree to each group. Ss will put the picture cards in the right places on the family tree according to the information on the relationship cards. Ss will talk to each other by using the same structure written on the relationship cards.

Controlled Practice (5-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice, and to provide a controlled listening activity with the specific information

T will give HO and let them to read it. Ss will fill the gaps with the words in the boxes then check the answers by listening to the recordings.

Moral Issue (5-8 minutes) • To provide students

T will give some envelopes within the pieces of photos to each group then they will put the pieces together in a very short time to make a family photo of different nationalities. Only one piece won't be in the envelopes. They will have to find their piece from the other groups.
