Main Aims

  • To provide review and practice of lexis for food and drinks: pasta, ham, cereal

Subsidiary Aims

  • To give students an opportunity to practise scanning by listening to the interview with N and B in the context of food and frinks
  • To provide accuracy in freer speaking practice in a conversation in the context of food and drinks

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (7-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Put the flashcards of food and drinks in different parts of the classroom. Sugget students to point to these flashcards and answe questions: what is this/that? What are these/those? Gather all cards together, put them on the whiteboard and ask ex1 What is your favourite food?

Clarification (6-7 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

ex 2 Are there any words that you don't understand? Let's listen and repeat. Choral drilling and in pairs. ex 3 Use the words that we have read and write the items of food Peer correction.

Controlled Practice (16-17 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Ex 4 Look at the page 22 again. What are the names of the children there? Look at the dishes and tell me, what can you see on the dish A (nominating), dish B (nominating) .... Let's listen to the interview and complete the table. Write only letters. Which do they eat on breakfast, lunch and dinner. CCQ: What we are going to do? Listen and complete. Should you write food items or letter? letters Peer correction Ex 5 In pairs, please complete the text about Naomi. You have 3 min. Peer assesment Ex 6 Individually complete the text about Brad. You have got 3 min.

Freer Practice (10-11 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice
