In this session, students are going to learn about "be going to" for planning and prediction. At the end of the session, they will understand the function and usage of be going to.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In the first stage, I'm going to talk about the plans I have this weekend. "I'm going to attend a wedding party." Then, I will ask them about " what are you going to do this weekend?"

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I'm going to write some of correct sentences that my students made on the board and I will highlight TL.

Clarification (10-12 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

In this stage, for demonstrating planning situation, I will draw a timeline, showing past, now/present and future and trying to clarify this sentence "I'm going to meet my friend this weekend." by illustration and asking some CCQs like: "Is it in the future? yes "we made decision now or before now? before now formula: Sub+ to be(am/is/are)+ going to+ verb negative form: sub+to be+ not+ going to+ v ? form: to be+ subject+ going to+ v short answers: Yes, I am./No, I'm not. prediction situation: "There are so many dark clouds in the sky. It's going to rain." predict based on evidence. CCQs; "Is it raining now? no "Am I sure it will rain? yes, bc I can see the dark clouds. " Is there any evidence? yes, dark clouds

Controlled Practice (6-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The students will be asked to do exercise 3A on page 131 in the grammar bank in 4 minutes. Then they will have 2 minutes to check their answers in pairs and then we will check the answers with whole class. Then they go to exercise 3B. In 2 minutes They should complete the sentences individually and then we will check.

Free Practice (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I will ask my students about "what are they going to do after the class till night?" in the group of 4 and then tell the class about who they think has the most interesting plan.
