Main Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a showing interest expresions in the context of good or bad experience

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practise in listening for a gist and specific information.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T asks students: Do you live in a house or in a flat? Is your house/ flat new or old? Is your house/ flat in good or bad condition? Which storey (floor)?

Exposure (8-9 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through listening

T introduce Estrella to Ss: This is Estrella, she lived in a flat in Barcelona in this building (show a picture). Would you like to live there? Why? T record new vocabulary on WB and asks students if they know those words: crack ceiling floor/ storey crash shook Ss listen to the first part of Estrella's story and complete Task1. T asks students to talk in pairs: What do you think happened next? Ss listen to the rest of the story and compare their ideas with the audio.

Useful Language (8-9 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Ss read script and complete Task 2- pair checking, group checking, WC FB. Ss complete Task 3. Ss practise the conversation in pairs- T asks for some examples.

Productive Task Speaking (15-17 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

T asks students : Choose a topic, and think about it: 1. Really good day 2. Really bad day Practise conversation in pairs. T asks for examples.

Feedback and Error Correction (5-6 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

T checks if Ss fully understand: What you say when you are surprised? What you say when you understand? What you say when you hear about something good? What you say when you hear about something bad?
