In this lesson Ss will learn new vocabulary ; house & home and how to we use them in a sentences.Ss will discuss about their home.They will work in pairs to ask some questions in exercise 3.After that they have a listening activity.They will do the exercises related to listening part.At end of the lesson they will work in pairs and discuss some questions in exercise 4.

Main Aims

  • To introduce and practice in new vocabulary in the context of living ina house or a flat

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide specific information and to definite some phrases


Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T sticks the pictures of house and flat on the board and then ask them what they are.Then ask which one do you like most ? Would you like to live in one of these houses or flat ?

Clarification (2-4 minutes) • To clarify the meaning , form and pronounciation of the target language.

T tries to elicit the words "house & flat " from the Ss and write them on the board.Then Ss repeat the words.

Free Practice (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

In exercise 1 , Ss will discus these questions : "Do you live in a house or flat ? " "What do you like most about your home ? " First they think individualy , then discuss and compare in pairs.T asks ICQs.

Controlled Practice (5-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

In exercise 2 , Ss choose house or home to fill each gap.T give the instructions , and then asks ICQ , after gives the exercises.Ss should do it on your own.Finally T checks as WC. T asks Ss , " Can you tell me now the differences between house & home ? We can discuss it.T tries to elicit it from the Ss and uses the previous pictures while doing explanaiton.

Semi-Controlled Practice (5-8 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

In exercise 3 , Ss ask and answer the questions from exercise 2.They should work in pairs..T gives instructions and ICQs Finally we can talk about as a WC.

Listening activity 1 (6-10 minutes) • To practice receptive skils.

In exercise 1 , Ss should listen and circle the correct answers.Before giving the material T gives instructions : Read the text carefully and ask ICQ then gives the text.Then Ss compare in pairs.Finally T gives the answer key.

Listening activity 2 for detail (3-5 minutes) • To practice receptive skills ; listening for specific definition for the phrases

In exercise 2 , Ss should read the three phrases and choose the best definition each.Then they compare in pairs.Then they listen and check if their answer fits in with recording.We check as WC.Exercise will be done through the instructions , ICQ and materials. T asks the students to clap their hands when they hear each phrase.

Feedback -Praciticing productive skills (10-12 minutes) • to practice speaking for fluency in a semi-controlled activity

In exercise 3 , Ss should discuss the questions in pairs.T tells , work in pairs , are you doing alone ( No ) , then here you go ! Firstly Ss discuss , after that alltogether we will discuss it.If time & number of the students allows , for Q 1 : T invites one of the students and asks him to say his problems.Encourage Ss to give him advice about his situation. for Q 2 : T makes two lists " advantages and disadvantages" and appoint a secretary for each list.Ss call out ideas and the secretary write them up in the appropriate list. for Q3 : Discuss Why -Is it personal choice , cultural or financial ?
