Procedure (29-39 minutes)
In this stage, I'm going to ask the students to give their tips for a particular situation, using the question: Imagine that somebody you know is starting a new office job tomorrow. Think of two important tips you could give him or her to make the first day go well. (one Do & one Don't) (Part A)
Here, I'm going to work on new vocabularies with MFP, using pictures: * Colleague - Survive - Employee - Solve (meaning) * Noun - Verb - Adjective (form= part of speech) / Solve a problem (form= collocation)
Now, I will ask the students to read the title of the text (& the two sentences beneath) and say what they think the text is about. (1) Then, I will ask them to take a quick look at the text and see if their tips are mentioned there. (2) *Skimming* (Part B)
In this stage, I will ask the students to go to exercise C and read (Top tips A-G) for primary preparation and have something to keep their minds occupied. Afterwards, they are going to be told to read the text again, deeply this time and then match the numbers (1-7) with the tips (A-G) and put each letter in the correct gap in the text. After that, I will tell the students to check their answers in pairs. Then, I will ask the students one by one to give the answer of each sentence and then, we check the answers together. (Part C)
At the end of the class, The students will be asked to discuss the following questions in pairs: - Which tips do you think is the most important? - Do you think any of the tips could be useful for the first day in a new class or on a course? (Part D)
