Description

In this lesson the students will practise their receptive skills in the context of (women in history), through guided discovery and controlled read& practise, finally leading to students practising their productive skills speaking for fluency, about Women making history.

  • To provide scan reading practice using a text about Women make history in the context of history

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a Conversation in the context of women make history

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-Say hello -Pass out one HO to each student -pair the students ,Tell the WC to read the riddle -Try and guess the answer to the riddle (the boys mother) -then to check their answers with another parther(which pairs) -Tell students to ask each other the questions on the bottom of HO11

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

-Pass out HO22 and 33 to the W/C -Before the students start the reading -Tell them to look at the pictures and the captions and to look at the tilte of the reading. -then tell the students to guess the answers to the qustion. -demo if needed -Now tell stundents to look at the dates on HO22 -next tell WC that they will scan for the dates in the reading of HO33 -tell them to work with apart to check their answers

While-Reading (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

-While the students are reading pass out HO44 -Ask students what did they read -Then ask them to ask each other the same question -Tell students to circle the main idea on the top of HO 44 -Tell to read again -Then tell stundents to anwser the sentences true or false on HO44. to circle yes or no. if the answer is not in the reading ,circle doesnt say -Check answers with a partner

While-Reading (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Tell students to match the dates on the time line of HO44 with a line withe sentence . -Tell WC to find the information in the reading -Then use the the time line to tell the history story of womens rights to their partners -Tell them to add other details if they remember

Post-Reading (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

-Ask students to first think about these questions , then discuss their ideas to the Wc. 1.Some people think ''A women's place is in the house .''Do you agree ? Why or Why NOT ? 2.Should there be ''men's'' jobs and ''women jobs'' jobs? Why or why not ? 3.Should women work in government ? Why or why not ? Do women in government in your country ? İf so ,talk about them
