To provide practice of the different uses of "get", and for students to differentiate between literal and idiomatic uses of the word in the context of vacations

Procedure (37-48 minutes)
T puts images on board and asks Ss to discuss which place they would like to go on vacation to and why, with a partner for 2m T gives demo by answering questions T gives Ss 2m to discuss w partner OCFB
T tells Ss to get out writing materials T tells Ss that they will hear a few sentences, but instructs not to write anything the first time they hear it, but rather just listen for the main idea T reads first 2 pieces of dialogue from text T instructs Ss to try to write down what the hear when sentences are read for second time T reads dialogue again T reads dialogue one more time, then has Ss compare writings w partner for 2m T hands out text so Ss can check their work
T tells Ss they will need to underline any phrase which contains the word "get" ("got" in past tense) T demos by underlining the first one T gives Ss 3m to complete task individually T gives Ss 1m to compare w partner T writes phrases on board for OCFB
T conducts MFP using CCQs as per TLAS T uses mini tasks to guide students when CCQing for stress T demos and drills P
T chests second handout w controlled practice activity, tells Ss they will have 5m to complete individually T has Ss compare answers for 2m OCFB
T tells Ss they will be talking about their most recent / memorable vacation with a partner T instructs Ss to use as many of their new phrases as possible T gives Ss 4m to discuss T has Ss switch partners and discuss for another 4m T conducts monitoring and micro-teaching during speaking activity in place of DEC
