Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ask: How do you adjust your vocabulary when speaking to a pet owner? What common phrases or structures do vets use to explain conditions clearly? List answers on the board to create a prediction list before watching. Interaction: Class discussion

Pre-Reading/Listening (5-7 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Prepare for note taking

While-Reading/Listening #1 (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Play the chosen 2–3 minute clip. Task: Students answer: What is the pet’s problem? What treatment is suggested? How does the vet reassure the client? Quick pair check before confirming with the class.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (16-18 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Play the rest of the video. Students: Write key terms from the diagnosis and treatment explanation Note any client questions and vet answers Summarize the advice given

Post-Reading/Listening (13-15 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned
