Main Aims

  • To provide gist and detailed reading practice using a text about people in the picture in the context of photography

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of photography

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In this stage I will ask some questions about the picture that has a man and a woman in it like what decade do you think its from? what do you think the couple is looking at? what time of year do you think it is? what does the woman has in her pocket? what do you think it's for?

Pre-Reading (4-8 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible.

In this stage i will prepare several pictures related to keywords and the students are supposed to guess their meaning and say them to understand the words. the keywords are: botanical garden, Notice, Photograph, sign

while-Reading#1 (2-4 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist reading tasks.

in this stage i want students to read the Title and the introduction which is in the first three lines and then they will answer some questions like: what is the weekly feature of newspaper called? what people describe in this part?

while-Reading#2 (8-10 minutes) • To read the reading with more details and answers questions about reading

In this stage first i want students to take a look at part c in book and read the questions in this part then they have to read the whole text carefully and pay attention to details then i want them to answer the questions and then i will check the answers with whole class.

Post-Reading • to provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

The students will be asked to talk about this question in group of 4: Is there a photo with you in it that you really love? Describe it. Why do you like it so much?
