To build confidence in listening and responding to real-life interviews.
Procedure (45-59 minutes)
Ask students simple questions like "Why are you learning English?" or "Have you ever filled out a form in English?" Use a photo to set the scene.
Play the Skype interview audio between a teacher and a student (or read aloud). Students identify key personal information: name, age, country, reason for learning English.
Highlight useful expressions from the audio like: "Can you spell that, please?" "What's your email address?" Write them on the board and ask students to notice how spelling is given.
Teach or review the alphabet (focus on tricky sounds like B/V, G/J). Introduce possessive adjectives (my, your, his, her) with examples using student names or photos.
Students fill in a gap-fill exercise with personal info sentences and possessive adjectives.
In pairs, students ask and answer personal questions (name, spelling, email, nationality) using the target phrases and record the answers in a chart.
Students complete a mock application form for a visa or language course. Optionally, they can share details with the class.
