Bingo to review plant / food vocabulary, and charades to review present progressive.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To review vocabulary from Units 1 to 3

Subsidiary Aims

  • To give students practice recognizing and speaking words from Units 1 to 3.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Have students open their books. Start with Unit 1. Show them the pages with the words, and tell them today we will review the words and phrases. Show a video with people doing things. Elicit comments: What are they doing? They are singing. What are they doing? They are playing.

Target Language Review Units 2 and 3 (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Go through vocabulary for Units 2 and 3 (last part of PowerPoint).

Plant and Food Bingo (8-10 minutes) • To provide practice of target language

Put students in pairs (or groups of three). Hand out cards with pictures on them. Demonstrate the concept of BINGO and begin playing. Hand out cards with words on them. Play another round.

Exposure (3-4 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Go through first part of PowerPoint. Review the phrases.

Practice (8-10 minutes) • To use the language.

Divide class into two teams. Choose students from each team to come and act out the item on the cue card. Award points.

Wrap-up • Focus on the purpose of the games they just played.

Remind students that these words are from their book, and wish them luck.
