Description

In this lesson, students will practice some phrases relating to money and time. They will first guess the words and fill in the blanks then they will listen to the conversation and check their answers. After that they will match the words with the definitions. They will be asked to make a story with some of the words. And at the end they will have a free discussion.

Main Aims

  • To provide practice of phrase relating to money and time in the context of time is money

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of time is money

Procedure

Lead in and Brainstorming (5-7 minutes) • To engage students

The teacher will ask Ss: how do you spend or save money? Do you have good ideas to make money? when you come up with an idea, do you make it happen immediately? Then the teacher will writes two Qs on the board :whose idea are they talking about? what do Martha and her Dad think about the idea? T gives the HOs and ask Ss to read it fast and answer the Qs. T gets feedback.

Completing the text (5-7 minutes) • To know how much the students are familiar with the words and for the students to have a challenge between what they already know and what they don't

T will ask Ss to use the words in the box and complete the text. Ss will check in pairs. Ss will listen to audio and check their answers.

Matching (8-10 minutes) • To know how much the students are familiar with the words and focus on unknowns

T put Ss in pairs and gives the pieces of paper(definition/word). T asks them to match them. T will monitor to understand which words are difficult to focus on in the feedback part. T gives the answer key. T asks CCQs and drills the difficult words.

Making Stories (6-9 minutes) • For the students to use the words in sentences in order to memorize them better

T uses the projector to show and tell a story meanwhile she asks Ss to guess her story. T gives a context to pairs and asks them to make a story using some words they have just learned. Ss talk together and tell stories and they should choose the best one. T gets feedback.

Free Discussion (9-10 minutes) • To have freer practice of the words learned

T asks Ss to look at the bottom of page 26 and tell each other if they agree or disagree with the sentences and give reasons. T monitors to hunt mistakes. T gets feedback

Error- Correction (4-5 minutes) • for the Ss to improve accuracy

T writes some mistakes on the board. T asks Ss to correct in pairs. T gets feedback.
