Procedure (45-59 minutes)
Show an image of the globe with flags and continents. ask: "Do you know Olympic ?" "what countries join?" Write responses on the board and introduce key vocabulary : country , nationality.
Play the listening track of student book. Students match names to countries, nationalities.
Write three sample on the board : a: Are you from Mexico? Yes, I am. b: Are they from Japan? No, they aren't. c: Is he from Egypt? Yes, he is. underline key parts: Are you, is he. ask them: Is this a question or answer? is it positive or negative?
Draw a grammar table for be in negative and question form. Introduce schwa in words like teacher , America. Practice difficult consonants using listen and repeat.
Students complete gap-fill grammar exercises. Vocabulary matching task: match countries to nationalities.
Role play: Students receive identity cards. In pairs, they ask each other: "What's your name?" "Where are you from?" "Are you from China?" Encourage full sentence answers.
play bingo with numbers. First student to complete a line shouts "Bingo" and read their numbers aloud.
