To provide the students with the vocabulary in the context of clothes, dressing in different countries.
1).Reading for specific information in the context of clothes and dressing up. 2).Speaking for fluency in the context of clothes and dressing up.
Procedure (34-53 minutes)
I'll start the lesson by showing 2 pictures of a girl wearing nice clean clothes and the girl wearing strange clothes. I'll ask the students to comment on this picture. what do they think? Do they think it's good way of dressing? Which style of clothes do they prefer? Do they think that the style of clothes can tell about person's character?
I'll start the activity by introducing the TL.(words like dress up,tights,underwear, tie, casual, formal, smart, robe, lightweight, loose,sandals, distinctive,overcoat,ski jacket, spare) I'll use visual aids, concept checking questions for that. After that i'll give the students the hand outs with words (types of clothes), they will have to put this words into three colons (formal, casual, smart,). After the students finish, they will check answers in pairs.
1).The students will be given a text about clothing in Kuwait,Sweden and India. 2).The students will read the text and answer the questions about clothes for work, traditional dress and young people's fashions in these three countries.3). After that they will check answers in pairs.
The students will walk around the classroom and talk about clothes for work, clothes at home,traditional dress and young people's fashion in Turkey.When do people in Turkey wear traditional dresses? On which occasions? Is it common nowadays?
The students will be given hand outs with crossword. The students will work in pairs to solve the crossword. The asnwer key will be provided on the wall.
