To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of Murphy s Law
Procedure (35-48 minutes)
The students will be asked if they have ever experienced waiting in a long line at the traffic and change to another the line, what has happened? What about they got to the airplane early? Do u know sth about Murphy s Law? Do u believe that if there is sth can go wrong, it will go wrong?
I will play the first audio once to listen and complete the task in part a, page 65. Then students will check their answers with the whole class. After that I will put students in pairs to discuss what they think the words and the phrases they circled mean for 2 minutes. Then I will explain the vocab and use CCQ and drill pronunciation. recession, apply for, get cut off, in the wild, the whole
The students are going to listen to the second audio(Peter and Sue stories) and then talk about why are they examples of Murphy s Law? What happened to Peter? What happened to Sue?
Students will be asked to read the Q on page 65, part b for 2 minutes and then the second audio will be played again. The students need to mark the sentences T or F and correct the F sentences. They will have 2 minutes to check their answers in pairs then we will check them with the WH. I will ask them about the reason that why they have marked each sentence T or F.
Students will be asked to talk to each other in groups of 4 about whose experiences was more annoying, Have they ever had Murphy s Law experience. (part d)
