Description
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
Greet and introduce themselves and others.
Use be (affirmative and negative forms) with subject pronouns.
Ask and answer What's your name?/ Where are you from?.
Say and spell names.
Recognize and say country names.
Use correct intonation for introductions.

To develop students' confidence using simple present forms of be in spoken interaction and reinforce recognition of country names and classroom objects.
Procedure (45-60 minutes)
Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students
Greet students individually. Ask: What's your name? Where are you from?
Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation
Students introduce themselves to classmates in pairs using name chain.
Clarification (10-15 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language
Present subject pronouns + be using chart (SB p.5). Use Pronunciation Box (SB p.5). Model and drill stress patterns in introductions.
Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice
Ex 1D-1E for controlled practice.
Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice
SB p.4-5. Ex 1A-1C. Play audio tracks (e.g., greetings). Students practice in pairs. Focus on intonation.
Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language
Students ask: What's your name?, Where are you from?. Are you from...? Use Find Someone Who handout.
