Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Show a photo of your own family or cartoon family. Ask: “Who’s this?” “Do you have a brother?” “Is this your mother?” Use gestures and body language to engage students. Students answer with “Yes / No” or “That’s my.....

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Use Page 2 (Vocabulary Page) Show the big family picture. Point to each person and say the words clearly. Ask students to repeat (choral and individual drilling). Add gestures for each family member. Highlight the label “me” to show first-person connection.

Highlights (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Write on the board: grandfather, grandmother, father, mother, brother, sister, me Use color coding or draw stick figures to reinforce. Highlight “Who’s he/she?” and “He’s my...” / “She’s my...”

Semi control (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Pair up students. One student asks: “Who’s he?” Partner answers: “He’s my grandfather.” Variation: Give flashcards or cut-out family member pictures to roleplay.

Song (8-10 minutes) • Repeat and understand to say the words correctly

Play the song once. Let students listen quietly. Play again – students repeat each line. Sing together with gestures (point to each family member).

Wrap up (3-5 minutes) • Quick review with flashcards or by pointing to images.
