Description

In this lesson students are going to learn about be going to grammar in the context of their weekend plans through ppp. after this lesson students might better be able to use be going to to talk about their future plans or intentions. The lesson will be finished with a discussion task about their plans for their next weekend.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

IN this stage I will talk about the things that I'm going to do in the weekend. I will make sentences by using the be going to grammar in order to familiarize students with this grammar.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

In this stage I will write some of the sentences that my students have made in correct form by using the be going to grammar on the board to draw their attention to target language.

Clarification (10-12 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

In this stage I will clarify the meaning by drawing a timeline on the board and asking some CCQs. Are the sentences about the past, present or future? Future Can I use exact time? Yes Which form of the verb can be used in this grammar? Base form after that I will elicit the structure to clarify how to form the sentences: Subj+ be going to+ verb(base form). the be going to pronunciation will be drilled in the class by repeating the sentences with students.

Controlled Practice (10-12 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The students are going to do exercise 3A on page 131 in the grammar bank in 5 minutes. then they will have 3 minutes to check their answers in pairs and then we will check the answers with the whole class.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I will ask my students to talk about their plans for their weekend and the things that they are going to do in their next weekend, at first they have to talk about it in groups of four and then they will tell the class about their weekend plans.
