Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of next weekend

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

To start the class, i tell my students about my own plans for the weekend. then i ask them to tell me about theirs.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

In this stage, i write some of their answers in the correct form on the WB.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I draw the timeline on the board and ask the students some CCQs. Then I will elicit the structure from the students to clarify how to form the sentences. Then I ask the students if they know the negative form of will (will not) and the short form of it (won't). I ask them to tell me the negative version of the sentences that are written on the board. I will do the same for the question form.

Controlled Practice (10-12 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The students are going to do exercise 6A on page 137 in the grammar bank in 5 minutes. they will have 3 minutes to check their answers with their partner and then, the answers sill be checked with the whole class.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I will ask the students to talk about their next weekend plan and tell the class about who do they think has the collest plan for the weekend.
