Procedure (45-56 minutes)
The lesson starts with a short discussion where students share whether they like shopping and if they prefer shopping online or in stores. Then, we use a Mentimeter activity where students rank items in order of what people spend money on the most. This interactive task gets them thinking about the topic, introduces key vocabulary naturally, and encourages participation right from the beginning.
After the warm-up, students complete a fill-in-the-blanks activity using vocabulary related to shopping. This helps them become familiar with keywords in context. Then, they work in pairs to match these words or phrases with their definitions. During feedback, I provide clear explanations to reinforce understanding. After talking about the definitions of the words, student will write stories in pairs and publish them on padlet
Students read a short text about Black Friday and other sale days, then complete a KWL chart to reflect on what they know and learn. After that, they take an online quiz about their shopping habits and do a fun role play based on their results, acting as a bargain-loving customer or a seller.
Students start by putting example sentences in chronological order to notice the difference between past simple and present perfect. Then, they identify time expressions commonly used with each tense. Finally, they complete controlled practice activities to reinforce the form and use of both tenses in context.
To wrap up the lesson, students receive a set of questions and walk around the classroom asking their peers. Their goal is to find the best shopping partner based on shared habits or preferences. This activity encourages real communication, review of the lesson's vocabulary and grammar, and helps build fluency in a fun, interactive way.
