In this stage students will learn how to use yet and already in present perfect

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification, review and practice of Yet and already in present perfect

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a Conversation

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-2 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In this stage i will say some sentences containing yet and already to help students become somehow familiar with them .the sentences will be extracted from text on page 30 grammar part.

Exposure (2-4 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

In this stage I wil ask students to turn to page 30 and 31 (grammar parts a and b) to look at pictures and read the conversation and then fill the blanks in 2 minutes. After that I will check the sentences with them

Highlighting (1-2 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I will ask students to do part c on page 31 grammar part and we check together

Clarification (5-7 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

In this stage ,at first I will draw a timeline on the board and write some sentences with yet and already for example: Have you finished your homework yet? (It's 10:30) I have not finished it yet.( It's 10:30) I have already finished it.(It's 9:30) and then according to grammar bank on page 132 ,4A I will give any necessary explanation about how to use yet and already and their meaning in present perfect in addition a brief review of present perfect by giving an example

Controlled Practice (6-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

I will ask students to refer to page 133 part a and b to do the practices given there and they will have 4 minutes to complete them then I will give them 2 minutes to check their answers in pair and at last I will check their answers

Free Practice (4-5 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

In the last stage ,I will students to have conversation in 4 minutes in pair or in groups of 4 if possible about these questions: what have you always wanted to do but you haven't been able to do yet?why? And what have you always wanted to do which you have been successful to do ?
